The Devils are Favoring JungleMan12 in the Latest “Durrrr” Challenge Match

Written by Eric | Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

The latest Durrrr Challenge at Full Tilt Poker is turning sour for Dwan.  His opponent Dan “JungleMan12” Cates is now up over $800,000 one third of the way through the challenge having played 17,108 hands.

The Tom Dwan Millionnaire Dollar Challenge – know nowadays simply as the “Durrrr Challenge” -involves a series of heads up challenges that Tom Dwan makes against fellow online poker pros.  Basically, Dwan offers all of his opponents a 3:1 prop bet that over 50,000 hands of 200/400 NLHE he can turn a profit against them.  Thus, Dwan it wagering $1.5 million against JungleMan12’s $500,000 that he can beat him.

But it certainly isn’t going too well for Dwan so far.  It seems like the devils and his minions here at Gambling6666 are favouring “JungleMan12”. He is now up $819,000 in the Durrrr Challenge which started a few months ago in 2010.  Since then, the pair of them have exchanged more than $113 million in nosebleed pots and bluffs!

In fact, since December 17th, JungleMan12 has managed to add another $319,000 to his lead on Dwan.  The biggest pot so far has been worth $200,000. This happened when Dwan decided to raise 5h-4h pre-flop to $1,200, Jungleman12 responded with a 3bet light to $4,800 with Jh-2h.  Dwan called and the flop came Q-8-6 with two heart giving both players flush draws.  The King of Hearts on the turn however completed both players flushes and it was inevitable really that both players were going to get sucked into the furnace of hell and move all-in.

The cooler for Dwan was a massive blow for him.  Luckily though, he still has plenty of time to win all of his $1.5 million back.  And it’s not like Dwan has never been involved in high stakes pots before.  Several times in 2010 Dwan played in pots worth up to $600,000 in $400/$800 PLO against the likes of Ziigmund, Ivey and Antonius.
